Around Bryce Resort in Basye, up the road toward Orkney Springs, and along the quiet stretches of Fort Valley, plenty of homes sit empty for weeks between visits or are rented to guests by the weekend. That arrangement works well until a lock fails and the person who owns the place is a long drive away. A guest arrives after dark to a keypad that won't wake up.
